Junior College 2024

This year, we were again allowed to receive an auditorium full of fifth and sixth years for a Junior College. They were introduced to the mathematical side of the human heart and even discovered a link with particle physics in the life sciences. Hopefully they were inspired to choose a voice field of study and we will see them again next year at KULAK!

New publication by Li et al. 2023 including Hans Dierckx

In a recent paper, Prof. H. Dierckx and collaborators present a modeling study that shows how optogenetics can help to end turbulent cardiac activity. This is a promising pathway to cure cardiac arrhythmia, since this recently presented technique is a low-energetic way of defibrillating and thus causes less damage for the patient.
